Iowa City VA Health Care System Announces New Outpatient Clinic Location in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

New leased location will provide increased space and services for area Veterans

The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is relocating the Cedar Rapids, IA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) from the current location at 2230 Wiley Blvd SW to a new leased location at 3500 Dalton Way SW Ste 400 in the Westdale Towne Center. The current location will no longer serve as a VA outpatient location once the move is finalized.

Judith Johnson-Mekota, Director of the ICVAHCS, had this to say about the new clinic space, "The new location will allow us to continue to meet the needs of our Veterans and to provide quality access to care for the many Veterans who live in the area. Iowa City VA Health Care System is committed to serving those who have served this country."

The new VA outpatient clinic will total approximately 28,000 square feet; over 2 times larger than current space.  This increase allows VA the ability to add a physical therapy team and increase mental health services, reducing travel time and adding convenience for patients.

Other increased programs and services at the new location include radiology and blood draw laboratory, Audiology, Podiatry as well as added space for primary care and mental health appointments. Home Based Primary Care will also be added for qualified Veteran Patients.

“The added value to our patients will be the access to more services locally, like radiology and physical therapy. The increased space will also allow staff to provide greater comfort and privacy for the Veterans. We will likewise see an improvement in the education and training that we can provide for patients without waiting for available space to conduct those activities,” Says Michele Carter, Clinic Manager for the Cedar Rapids CBOC.  The current clinic space opened in November of 2009. If you are a Veteran with an honorable discharge and are interested in receiving care at the Cedar Rapids clinic, please our dedicated enrollment number, 877-222- VETS, to sign up for health care today.

The clinic will open on September 14, 2020 for patient care. There will be a virtual ribbon cutting on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Follow the link below to register for the Virtual Ribbon Cutting on Zoom or follow us on Facebook to watch live on September 10th.
