Residents/Fellows
Complete the steps below 1 month prior to the start of your first ICVAHCS rotation of the academic year.
Failure to complete these steps in a timely manner will delay the start date of your rotation.
1.) All Resident/Fellows are required to complete Talent Management System (TMS) module: “VHA Mandatory Training for Trainees,” on an annual basis. Failure to keep your mandatory training up to date will result in a lapse of computer access at the ICVAHCS.
2.) Fingerprints are required for all Resident/Fellows, and must be submitted 1 month prior to the start of your first rotation at the ICVAHCS. You must complete this step unless you are currently in possession of a valid PIV badge that was originally issued by the ICVAHCS. If you have PIV badge that expires in the near future, report to Human Resources for fingerprinting one month prior to the expiration of your PIV badge.
To submit fingerprints, bring at least one form of photo ID to Bldg 2, basement room 113 Human Resources (located south of the main hospital) between 8am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. It is important to indicate that you are a Resident/Fellow at the time of fingerprinting.
If you currently reside outside the Iowa City area, you are welcome to submit fingerprints at your nearest VA Hospital.
When submitting fingerprints from a different VA site, it is imperative that you provide the following information at time of fingerprinting.
- Security Officer Identifier (SOI) : VA84
- Submitting Office Number (SON) : 1176
- Send Email Notification to: vhaiowaccess@va.gov including full legal name, location, and the date finger prints were submitted.
3.) Computerized Patient Records System (CPRS) training will be arranged prior to the start of your rotation by your UIHC clinical coordinator. You will be given VA computer access codes at the start of your first CPRS Training session. It is important to keep track of your VA computer access codes and valid PIV card. Please bring them with you every time you report to the VA for future rotations. Failure to retain your computer access codes and PIV card will result in a delay for the entire CPRS class. If you have lost/forgotten your computer access codes, please send an email to: vhaiowaccess@va.gov at least one week prior to your next VA rotation. CPRS Training occurs in room 2S05 at the ICVAHCS.
