7th Annual VA2K Walk and Roll
7th Annual VA2K Walk and Roll
The 7th Annual VA2K Walk and Roll will take place Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Please join your fellow colleagues, community members and Veterans to promote health and exercise, and to help end homelessness among Veterans.
It is our duty, as VA employees, some of whom are also Veterans, to provide our Nation’s Veterans with quality care and support and to help Veterans who may be in need. Participating will only take 30 minutes of your day, but the impact of promoting health and exercise while raising donations for homeless Veterans will last far longer. As you walk or roll, know that you are touching the lives of individual Veterans.
Incorporating regular physical activity into your lifestyle is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health. If you are not active now, consider using the VA2K to jumpstart your exercise routine. We know that worksite health promotion activities enhance employee engagement and overall well-being. This year’s Iowa City VAMC VA2K Walk & Roll will begin at 11am and proceed until 1pm, starting and finishing at the flag pole of the main hospital entrance. Employees are encouraged to donate either bus tokens/passes (available at grocery store customer service counters or Trac phone cards (available at VA Canteen) to help a homeless Veteran. Donated items can be dropped off ahead of time to Anne Wineland, Volunteer Services, Room 3W12F or at the event start/finish area.
