ICVAHCS Winter Storm Situation Report

Event: Winter Storm Warning

Affected ICVAHCS Locations: Decorah

Event Start Time: 1800 Wednesday 23 MAR 2016

Anticipated Event End Time: 1200 Thursday 24 MAR 2016

Situation: National Weather Service (NWS) La Cross has issued a winter storm warning for Winneshiek County from 1800 Wednesday to 1200 Thursday. The area can expect a significant snowfall up to 2 inches per hour with a total accumulation of 5-13 inches of mixed ice and snow. Hazardous travel conditions are likely during the Thursday morning commute time.

Recommendations:

  • Van drivers should delay trips to Decorah until Thursday afternoon at the earliest, and monitor Iowa Department of Transportation Iowa511 website.

  • Clinics should assume patient difficulty in arriving for appointments and offer and be prepared for appointment rescheduling.

  • Clinic staff should monitor Iowa 511 website or mobile applications for current road conditions and allow extra time for travel.
