Neuropsychology
This rotation will involve working closely with a staff neuropsychologist completing both inpatient and outpatient neuropsychological assessments. Interns will work with a broad number of neurocognitive and psychological measures. Our patient population comprises a broad spectrum of disorders, with consults coming from psychology, psychiatry, neurology, primary care, and other specialty services. This rotation will be somewhat tied to the polytrauma rotation as patients who are consulted for neuropsychological assessment due to possible brain injury will be seen as part of the neuropsychological rotation as well. Goals of the rotation include developing assessment skills, gaining competence in diagnosis and understanding of disease processes, learning to write integrative reports, providing feedback to patients and providers, and developing the knowledge needed to select appropriate assessment batteries. Interns choosing this rotation will participate in a didactic neuropsychology program as well. The specific nature of this rotation will depend on an intern's prior experience with neuropsychological assessment.
