As a teaching hospital, Iowa City Va Medical Center provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research.

Academic Partners

Iowa City VA Medical Center is primarily affiliated with the University of Iowa College of Medicine. We offer residency training in all major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. Associated Health Training is offered in nursing, psychology, audiology, social work, dietetics, and pharmacy.

The Iowa City VA Meidcal Center continues to support other health training through affiliations with Kirkwood Community College, Coe College, and Indian Hills Community College.

Veterans Service Organizations

Iowa City VA Medical Center maintains a good working relationship with all of our veteran service organization (VSO) partners. We regularly brief our VSO representatives on changes impacting veterans' health care.

A Quarterly Veterans Service Officer/ Congressional Representative meeting has been established to give regular updates on issues concerning veterans health care.

As a participant in the US Department of Defense TRICARE Program*, Iowa City VA Medical Center serves as the main referral source for women's health and orthopedic specialty appointments.
