Pharmacy Residency Program - Iowa City

Program Overview

 

Iowa City VA's residency will provide a challenging and comprehensive program designed to improve the residents' clinical, educational, research, and practice management skills. The program will develop the residents' ability to transform accumulated knowledge and clinical experience into improved patient care.

The residency focus is in ambulatory care with experiences in anticoagulation clinic, geriatrics, lipid clinic, medication management, and primary care. Residents will also have the opportunity to gain experience in the areas of acute care, cardiology, general medicine, oncology, pain, psychiatry, and surgery. Besides clinical activities, the residents will participate in patient and staff education, present formal lectures and case discussions, and precept University of Iowa pharmacy clerkship students. In addition, residents will conduct a research project, present results, and produce a manuscript suitable for publication.
